MTN WhereRU is a service that is designed to give you peace of mind and protect you and
those you love against dangerous situations.
MTN WhereRU uses the cellular network to find the position of a cellphone user you want to locate.
It allows you know where your loved ones are at all times using your cellphone.
You can locate up to 10 consenting people via SMS, USSD or the Internet.
When you request the location of a consenting person, you will receive an SMS with a written
description of their recent location or alternatively, a visual map can be sent to you if you
have an MMS enabled cellphone. MTN WhereRU can be used 24 hours a day, does not require any
additional software and can be used with any type of cellphone.
The accuracy of the location details depends on the area they are in and the density of the
cellular network, e.g. Sandton may provide accuracy of 70m, whilst Bethelsdorp may provide
accuracy of 1.2km.
Suited to: PayAsYouGo and Contract customers; particularly families and small business owners
who can locate their loved ones and employees respectively.
